An exuberantly fresh and expressive nose offers up notes of violet, spiced plum, cassis and a whiff of the sauvage. The super-sleek, intense and beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors possess a caressing mouthfeel that contrasts moderately with the youthfully austere, firm and strikingly long finale. This lightly stony effort is really quite classy yet it's also going to need at least some patience and if you wish to see it at its peak, likely 12 to 15 years will be necessary. The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Aux Combottes 1er Cru is often one of Arlaud's strongest cards in his pack. The flattering bouquet has pure, very floral red berry fruit mixed with rose petals and iris flowers. This is very expressive and charming. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, belying a quite structured Gevrey with a slightly chalky finish.
